Joseph Paat, PhD ’17, has been awarded the 2024 INFORMS Young Researcher Prize. He was recognized for “On the Column Number and Forbidden Submatrices for Δ – Modular Matrices,” a study that appeared in the SIAM Journal, co-authored with collaborators.
The award, given annually by the INFORMS Optimization Society to outstanding researchers in optimization worldwide, spotlights Paat’s contributions to advancing mathematical optimization theory.
While at JHU, he was advised by Professor Amitabh Basu and is now an assistant professor at the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business.
