Title: Replicability in Learning
Abstract: A variety of stability notions have been introduced in the study of learning algorithms to capture desirable properties such as privacy preservation and generalization. In this talk, we’ll introduce a fairly new stability notion called replicability, and discuss its relationship with the more well-studied notions of differential privacy and adaptive generalization. We will show that, despite their different definitional objectives, these notions are statistically equivalent, and any statistical task that can be solved sample-efficiently under the constraint of one can be solved sample-efficiently under another. This talk is based on joint work with Mark Bun, Marco Gaboardi, Max Hopkins, Russell Impagliazzo, Rex Lei, Toni Pitassi, and Satchit Sivakumar.
