Graduate Leadership Awards

WSE Graduate Student Leadership Awards and Recognition, newly established in 2025, celebrate graduate students at WSE who go above and beyond to share their talents, enthusiasm, and dedication to their fellow student population and overall JHU community. These students stand out in a community of achievers and these awards are an opportunity to recognize outstanding members.

Award Categories

WSE Master’s Student Excellence in Leadership Award: This award recognizes a master’s student who has made a significant and lasting impact on their department and the broader graduate student community through exceptional service and leadership. It honors individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to enhancing graduate student life by actively contributing to programs, initiatives, or organizations. Recipients of this award have played a pivotal role in fostering a more supportive, engaging, and enriching environment for their peers.
WSE Doctoral Student Excellence in Leadership Award: This award honors a doctoral student who has made a profound and lasting impact on their department and the broader graduate student community through exceptional service and leadership. It recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to enhancing graduate student life by actively contributing to programs, initiatives, or organizations. Recipients of this award have played a vital role in fostering a more supportive, inclusive, and enriching environment for their peers.
WSE Graduate Unsung Hero Award: This award recognizes a master’s or doctoral student who has made a significant and tireless impact on graduate and professional student life at WSE through exceptional service and involvement. Without holding an executive position, this individual has contributed extensively to student life programs, initiatives, or organizations, serving as a behind-the-scenes role model and a positive influence on their peers. Their dedication and efforts have enriched the graduate student experience and strengthened the WSE community.
Engineering for Professionals Complete Engineer Award: This award recognizes a student in the Engineering for Professionals program who exemplifies the qualities of a Complete Engineer. Honoring their outstanding leadership, self-management, teamwork, balance, and creative energy; this award celebrates their meaningful contributions to the EP community. Through their dedication and impact, the recipient embodies the values of a well-rounded and engaged engineering professional.
