Prof. Thon, Serene, Kevin, Sreyas, Dhanvini and Lulin presented at the ROSEI Summit 2023
The Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI) had a big turnout for the inaugural ROSEI Summit for sustainable energy research at Johns Hopkins University. The Summit was held January 18 in Hodson Hall on the Homewood campus.
Professor Thon and all the current PhD students in our group presented at the Summit.
Congratulations to Dr. Arlene Chiu for successfully defending her PhD thesis!
Congratulations to Ariana for winning the James F. Bell Award!
This award was established by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in honor of James F. Bell (1914–95), who was a professor and professor emeritus in the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 1979 until his death. During his 50-year career at Johns Hopkins, Professor Bell worked continuously as an experimentalist in the field of nonlinear mechanics and dynamic plasticity, authoring more than 80 research papers and two books. His avocation was music: He played in the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra for more than 20 years. The James F. Bell Award recognizes outstanding research and scholarly achievement in mechanical engineering.
Congratulations to Eric for winning the Muly Family Undergraduate Research Award!
This award supports undergraduate student research and is given annually to an exceptional undergraduate student conducting research in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. It was established by Faye and Emil Muly ’56 in honor of their family, which includes several generations of Johns Hopkins alumni. This year’s recipient is being recognized for significant contributions made in research conducted with Professor Susanna Thon.
