Graduate student Emily Hopkins was awarded the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Graduate Research Program (SCGSR) Award for the 2022 Solicitation 1 cycle. Emily will conduct her SCGSR research at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM under the guidance of Dr. Khalid Hattar. Emily is a third-year doctoral student from Los Alamos, New Mexico studying under Professor Mitra Taheri. Over the winter, she will be studying defect landscapes in CCAs under radiation conditions using in situ TEM capabilities within the Ion Beam Laboratory at Sandia. Emily graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, and credits her mentors, Dr. Taheri and Dr. Hattar for their invaluable support in her research efforts.
