Migration from Kaltura to Panopto

The Center for Learning Design and Technology is excited to share that beginning with the Spring 2024 term we are upgrading to the Panopto video platform for all Engineering for Professionals course video content in Canvas. This enhancement will unify the user experience and technical documentation for full-time and part-time programs across the Whiting School of Engineering and provide an improved viewing experience to both students and faculty.

What does this mean for faculty?

For the most part, faculty will not need to take any direct action as part of this change. CLDT staff will replace Kaltura embed codes with Panopto embed codes for all Canvas courses with existing video embeds (from Summer 2022 through Fall 2023).

After the Fall 2023 term concludes, faculty should no longer upload new videos to Kaltura. View only access will continue, as needed.

Beginning in Spring 2024, faculty will upload new videos using Panopto in the Canvas course site. Instructions for how to do this can be found in CLDT’s Teaching and Technology Support Center.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact [email protected].
