Please review these guidelines before engaging with the MCP.
Rights of Users
- Be treated with respect and courtesy.
- Receive training regarding Lab safety and the proper and ethical utilization of instruments (and/or computers – when relevant).
- Expect that instruments will function dependably and consistently.
- Expect staff to fully execute your experiment and gather the necessary data, when you request ‘Assisted Support’.
- If an experiment cannot be conducted due to issues with instrumentation or the facility, it will be rearranged without additional charges.
Responsibilities of Users
- Treat facility staff with respect and
- Conduct activities according to the highest scientific, professional, and moral principles.
- Complete all required training, obtain a valid user agreement, and abide by all safety and security regulations.
- Comply with JHU and MCP policies, including those concerning billing, scheduling, equipment sharing, cancellations, and modifications.
- Assume repair costs associated with equipment damage due to improper and negligent use.
- Bring research group members capable of conducting the experiments after initial training.
- Supply all their own expendable materials needed for their experiments.
- Collaborate with Lab manager to plan experiment and confirm the scope for projects requiring ‘Assisted Support’.
- Uphold and encourage a strong safety environment.
- Clean up the workspace and return instrument in its original configuration after usage for the next user.
- Give proper credit to MCP in all publications and presentations.
- Provide complete citations for all publications that include research performed at MCP.
- Participate in MCP survey requests promptly.
