Steps for Internal Users

Typical Steps Required by a New User (Internal) to Access the MCP 

  1. The new User requests access and training requests through the MCP website, which connects him/her to the appropriate Lab manager.
  2. The prospective User completes the required JHU Lab safety training (online) – if not previously completed.
  3. Using his/her iLab account, the User requests authorization from his/her Lab PI to access a Lab group and be added to the appropriate cost object.
  4. The User submits an access request to the MCP core in iLab – which may require contacting the Safety Officer.
  5. Once granted access to the MCP core, the prospective User can begin booking training sessions in iLab.
  6. The User needs to satisfactorily complete an instrument training session, before the Lab manager can grant him/her the appropriate permission to use the instrument.
  7. User can then schedule an experimental session (in iLab) to carry out his/her experiment.
