Typical Steps Required by a New User (External) to Access the MCP
- The new User requests access and training requests through the MCP website, which connects him/her to the appropriate Lab manager.
- The prospective User discusses the needs of his/her project with the Lab manager to determine technical feasibility.
- After the project is deemed feasible, the prospective user fills out and sign the required user agreement forms and have them endorsed by his/her home institution.
- The prospective User completes the required JHU Lab safety training (onsite) – if not previously completed.
- The new User opens an external user account on iLab and provide appropriate billing information.
- The new User submits an access request to the MCP core in iLab – which may require contacting the Safety Officer.
- Once granted access to the MCP core, the prospective User can begin booking training sessions in iLab.
- The User needs to satisfactorily complete an instrument training session, before the Lab manager can grant him/her the appropriate permission to use the instrument.
- User can then schedule an experimental session (in iLab) to carry out his/her experiment.
