Alden Murphy graduated from UGA in 2020 and with a bachelor of science in biology and minors in math and genetics. During her experience at UGA, she conducted research in a fly genetics lab at UGA and Skidaway Insititute of Oceanography doing PCR on shrimp gill samples. She started at JHU in 2020 for her masters degree in materials science and also as a student worker in the department. Her master’s thesis is on compostable bioplastics sourced from food waste, an individual research project under the guidance of assistant professor Luo Gu as her research mentor. When she graduated in 2020, she applied for this current position in the department.
