Additive manufacturing system used to deposit metal and build parts on a layer-by-layer basis. Layers are bonded metallurgically to achieve dense parts from powders melted by laser. The DED system features:
- Continuous wave, 1070 nm, IR laser with maximum power of 1000 W and focused beam diameter of 1.2 mm.
- FormAlloy AX coaxial, 4-stream metal deposition head for uniform powder distribution.
- Inert atmosphere chamber with a build volume of 250 x 250 x 300 mm and closed-loop environment control to maintain oxygen and moisture levels of less than 100 ppm.
- Three lines to feed powder to the build chamber. Two of them come from large powder hoppers and the third one is connected to the
- Alloy Development Feeder.
- Alloy Development Feeder (ADF) enabling rapid exchange of powder from 16 vials in a pistol-like motion.
- DEDSmart software with digital twin capabilities for build analysis, validation and playback.
- 4D sensing for in-process monitoring and closed-loop control featuring melt pool size and temperature control, dynamic layer selection, and optical monitoring.
