Tianyao (Ty) Gong (left), a Ph.D. candidate in materials science and engineering at Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, reflects on his attendance at the Materials Research Society (MRS) conference this past winter:

“Attending this year’s MRS was truly rewarding for me. I not only had the chance to showcase my research findings in the poster session, engaging with fellow researchers from diverse corners of the globe, but I also had the privilege of participating in symposiums led by renowned figures in electrochemistry, such as Dr. Yi Cui from Stanford, Dr. Sargent from Northwestern, and Dr. Yuan Yang from Columbia. The experience was enlightening, opening my eyes to new perspectives, and allowing me to actively contribute to discussions with these experts, gaining valuable insights for my own research. The DMSE [Department of Materials Science and Engineering] gathering provided a fantastic platform to connect with fellow department members, fostering a sense of camaraderie within our group.”
