Lucas Pancotto<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>was awarded the Corrsin Graduate Fellowship. \u00a0This fellowship is named in memory of Stanley Corrsin, a distinguished former Johns Hopkins professor who made groundbreaking contributions to fluid mechanics and shaped a unique legacy of scholars, former students, postdocs, and collaborators.<\/p>\n

Dr Mengze Wang <\/span><\/strong>received<\/span> the “<\/span>2023 Corrsin-Kovasznay Outstanding Paper Award”. This award is in recognition of your lead authorship of the following paper:

Dr Hanxun Yao’s <\/span><\/strong>article in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics (JFM) Rapids<\/em> received Honorable Mention in the 2023 JFM Emerging Scholar Best Paper Prize:

Dr Sugan Velazhagan <\/span><\/strong>received an “Honorable Mention” in the Best Thesis Commendations of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in physics. His thesis is titled “Implications of inviscid hydrodynamics and its variants for turbulence and statistical physics”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Varun<\/span> Vaidyanathan <\/strong>was awarded the Corrsin Graduate Fellowship. \u00a0This fellowship is named in memory of Stanley Corrsin, a distinguished former Johns Hopkins professor who made groundbreaking contributions to fluid mechanics and shaped a unique legacy of scholars, former students, postdocs, and collaborators.<\/p>\n

2023<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Curtis Haas\u00a0<\/strong>was awarded the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) fellowship, which he accepted. \u00a0 \u00a0He was also awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF-GRFP), which he declined in favor of the NDSEG.<\/p>\n

Martin Beshara <\/strong>was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF-GRFP).<\/p>\n

2022<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Professor<\/strong> Zaki<\/strong> was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society<\/em>\u00a0by the Division of Fluid Dynamics <\/em>for his \u201cfundamental contributions to linear and non-linear theories of bypass transition, novel applications of data science to fluid mechanics, and innovative numerical simulations of Newtonian and non-Newtonian flows with practical applications.\u201d<\/p>\n

Qi Wang\u00a0<\/strong>was appointed as an Assistant Professor at San Diego State University<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Cristale Garnica <\/strong>was awarded the JHU Distinguished Doctoral Fellowship in Mechanical Engineering.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brett Tillman <\/strong>received the Developing the Airmen We Need (DAWN) Fellowship<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Quinn Mitchell<\/strong>\u00a0received the\u00a0National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship<\/em>.<\/p>\n

2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Mengze Wang<\/strong> received the\u00a0Andrea Prosperetti Travel Award\u00a0<\/em>to participate in the 70th Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics<\/a>, to be held November 19 \u2013 21, 2017. The award recognizes the top\u00a0two 1st-year PhD students in fluid mechanics at Johns Hopkins University.<\/p>\n

Professor Zaki\u00a0<\/strong>received the William H. Huggins Excellence in Teaching Award<\/em> for outstanding teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.<\/p>\n

Professor Zaki\u00a0<\/strong>was awarded the\u00a0Japan Society for the Promotion of Science<\/em>\u00a0visiting fellowship.<\/p>\n

2016<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Professor Zaki <\/strong>received the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award<\/em>\u00a0(2016).<\/em>
\nThe award will support the group’s activity on\u00a0“Augmentation and Integration of Measurements and Simulation Data in Heterogeneous Environments”<\/em><\/p>\n
