Faculty blend expertise in animation and haptics to innovate treatment

More than 800,000 people have a stroke in the United States each year, with many suffering a lasting weakness or paralysis of one side of the body due to a loss of strength, dexterity, and control. But that fate is not inevitable, say John Krakauer, John C. Malone Professor and Director of the Brain, Learning, Animation & Movement Laboratory, and Jeremy D. Brown, John C. Malone Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering. The pair are blending their expertise in animation and haptics to innovate stroke treatment, beginning at the bedside.
