The Institute for Computational Medicine (ICM)\u2019s mission is to develop quantitative computer models of human disease, personalize these models using data from individual patients, and apply them to improve disease diagnosis and treatment.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/h2>\n

\u200b\u200bComputational Medicine (CM) integrates engineering, computer science, and mathematics to build computer models of disease, personalize these models using patient data, and apply them to diagnose and treat individual patients. CM has applications in many disciplines such as genetics, genomics, molecular networks, cellular and tissue physiology, organ systems, and pharmacology.<\/p>\n

Minor in Computational Medicine<\/h3>\n

\u200b\u200bThe CM minor offered through the Institute for Computational Medicine (ICM) is available to undergraduates in the Whiting School of \u200bEngineering and the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences who have sufficient mathematical, biology, and programming background. You will be advised by an ICM faculty member who conducts research in CM. Working with your advisor, you may tailor your coursework and research in the areas of CM that interest you. While research is optional, it can provide valuable hands-on experience.\u200b<\/p>\n

\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bThe Computational Medicine Minor is an interdisciplinary minor where students will need to have foundational courses in math, computer programming, and biological sciences before being able to pursue it.
