Please do not submit an External Credit Review Request for courses taken before your first semester at Hopkins until you speak with your assigned professional academic advisor or academic advisor\/success coach.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Transfer Credit Requirements&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.7&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;||0em||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||0px||false|false&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_module=&#8221;112235&#8243; saved_tabs=&#8221;all&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; min_height=&#8221;213.8px&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Transfer Credit Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Transfer courses must be taken for a letter grade.<\/strong> Pass\/Fail or Satisfactory\/Unsatisfactory grades are not transferable unless the host institution states in writing that the mark represents a grade of C or better.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Only courses with a grade of C or better will be transferred.<\/strong> The transfer course grades will not be factored into your JHU grade point average (GPA).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Credits will be transferred in the amount offered at the host institution<\/strong> Quarter units are converted to equivalent semester credits. If the credits differ, you need to discuss any implications this may have on your degree completion with your professional academic advisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Transfer Pre-Approval Description&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.7&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;0em||0.5em||false|false&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Concurrent registration during the fall and spring semesters is permitted, but students must be registered at JHU for a minimum of 12 credits. Additional courses  may be taken at another institution, but students may not exceed our maximum credit limit for the term.<\/strong> During the Summer term, the total credits across institutions may not exceed the 14-credit maximum. During the Intersession term, the total credits across institutions may not exceed the 3-credit maximum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visit the e-catalogue for the <a href=\"https:\/\/e-catalogue.jhu.edu\/ksas-wse\/undergraduate-policies\/academic-policies\/external-credit-policies\/#transfercredittext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full policies on registering at other institutions<\/a> after matriculation at JHU.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to take a course at another division within JHU, follow the instructions for <a href=\"#idr\">Interdivisional Registration<\/a>. Credit evaluation can take time. An acceptable syllabus should include a detailed explanation of the content covered, the title of the textbook, and learning outcomes. Generally, we are looking for a syllabus that has a detailed listing of the topics covered in each lecture or each week.<\/li>\n<li>Once you have received notification that the course will be accepted for transfer, you will register at the host institution as a non-matriculating, non-degree seeking student. A syllabus that is submitted without the proper information will not be evaluated and delays the transfer credit evaluation process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Request that an official electronic transcript be sent to <a href=\"mailto:incomingtranscript@jh.edu\">incomingtranscript@jh.edu<\/a> immediately after the grades have been posted by the host institution. **<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>* Submitting Multiple Forms<\/h5>\n<p>If a student is transferring multiple courses, they are encouraged to submit multiple forms, especially for Math and Chemistry. For example, list:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"display: block; padding-inline-start: 3em;\">\n<li>Calculus I, II, III, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations in one form.<\/li>\n<li>General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry in another form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All others, such as engineering, physics, and humanities\/social science courses can be in one form.<\/p>\n<h5>** Transcripts<\/h5>\n<p>The preferred method for the official transcript to be sent to JHU is electronic. Course evaluations may take several weeks to complete. Plan ahead and allow sufficient time before the host institution\u2019s application, registration, and enrollment deadlines. Once your\u202fPre-Approval\u202frequest has been approved, you may register for the approved course at the host institution as a non-matriculating, non-degree-seeking student. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Post-Approval<\/strong>\u202fis for students who completed coursework at another institution before matriculating at Johns Hopkins University and wish to have those courses evaluated for transfer credit. If you have multiple courses from the same institution,  group related courses into a single submission whenever possible. For example:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"display: block; padding-inline-start: 3em;\">\n<li>Mathematics: Calculus I, II, III; Linear Algebra; Differential Equations\n<li>Applied Mathematics &#038; Statistics: Probability, Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, Optimization\n<li>Chemistry: General Chemistry I &#038; II; Organic Chemistry\n<li>Calculus-Based Physics: Physics I &#038; II\n<li>Humanities and Social Sciences<\/ul>\n<h4>Submission Instructions<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><a class=\"inline_disabled external\" href=\"https:\/\/sis.jhu.edu\/sswf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Log in to SIS<\/a>, then select\u00a0<strong>Registration \u2192 Online Forms \u2192 External Course Review (ECR) Form<\/strong> from the menu.<\/br><\/br>\n<p>You may include up to\u202f<strong>10 courses<\/strong>\u202fon a single ECR form, provided all courses are from the same host institution. After submission, you will receive a confirmation email.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>After Submission<\/h4>\n<p>Once your form has been submitted, you will receive additional emails regarding your request. Review all messages carefully and complete any required actions promptly. Failure to respond may cause your request to expire, and you may need to submit a new ECR form.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of notifications you may receive include:<\/p>\n<ul  style=\"display: block; padding-inline-start: 3em;\">\n<li><strong>Additional Information Required<\/strong> \u2013 The submitted syllabus does not provide enough information for evaluation.
