They promote the professional development of the students through association with practicing engineers. Social activities include picnics, a formal dance, and a holiday party. AIChE also organizes tours of local plants and hosts speakers on various topics such as what to expect from graduate school or the role of chemical\/biomolecular engineers in industry.
