Whiting Internships in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program for Baltimore City Public School Students

How to Apply

Remember to put thought and effort into your application essays. Make sure to proofread, spellcheck, and check your word count before submitting.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Attend a Baltimore City public high school,
  • A’s and B’s in all high school Math and Science classes,
  • Available to work for 3 hours each day, two days a week (fall or spring program) for 15 weeks OR 4-5 hours every weekday for 4 weeks in the summer,
  • Be able to provide your own transportation to and from campus.

2) Request Transcript: Your school can either email your transcript to [email protected] or mail an official copy to

Your school must send the transcript on your behalf before the applicable submission deadline below.

3) Ask for Teacher Recommendation: https://forms.office.com/r/ZBsSuQzVVP

Ask a STEM teacher or guidance counselor who knows you well to complete the recommendation by the applicable submission deadline below.

Submission Deadlines

Fall 2022 – October 2, 2022 (11:59 p.m.)

Spring 2023 – December 11, 2022 (11:59 p.m.)

Program Dates

Fall – Approximately 15 weeks between November 2022 – February 2023, 3 hours per day, twice per week

Spring – Approximately 15 weeks between February 2023 – May 2023, 3 hours per day, twice per week

Summer – 4 weeks, 20 hours per week

Students will be expected to follow all JHU COVID-19 guidelines.
