Washington Post: Robots are doing animal surgery all on their own. Will they soon be operating on you?
The Washington Post reported on a study published May 4 in Science Translational Medicine, in which a team of scientists that included WSE computer scientist Simon Leonard announced the first successful, totally robotic soft-tissue surgery in pigs. By some measures, they say that their robot surgeon actually outperformed human doctors. Leonard is an assistant research professor in the Department of Computer Science. Read the complete story here.
