{"id":1335,"date":"2021-06-30T14:22:17","date_gmt":"2021-06-30T18:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/materials\/faculty\/mitra-taheri\/"},"modified":"2023-11-14T09:04:33","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T14:04:33","slug":"mitra-taheri","status":"publish","type":"people","link":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/materials\/faculty\/mitra-taheri\/","title":{"rendered":"Mitra Taheri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mitra Taheri is a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/MCP\/\">Materials Characterization and Processing facility<\/a>, and a member of the Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute.<\/p>\n<p>Her research focuses mainly on electron microscopy and specifically in-situ microscopy. Taheri\u2019s team designs and builds platforms to study materials in different, often extreme, environments including high temperatures, stress, radiation, oxidation, and more. Her team also develops new ways of detecting what is being seen through the microscope faster and in more efficient ways through integrating artificial intelligence. Taheri hopes this integration will improve not only researchers\u2019 understanding of materials processes, but how new materials can be built for the next generation of applications.<\/p>\n<p>She earned her BS, MSE, and PhD in materials science and engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-1335","people","type-people","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Mitra Taheri - Department of Materials Science &amp;
