{"id":6831,"date":"2015-05-08T11:55:35","date_gmt":"2015-05-08T15:55:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/materials\/?p=6831"},"modified":"2015-05-08T11:55:35","modified_gmt":"2015-05-08T15:55:35","slug":"2015-alumni-reception","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/materials\/news\/2015-alumni-reception\/","title":{"rendered":"Alumni, Faculty Reunite at MatSci Alumni Reception"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/materials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_3668.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6833 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/materials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_3668-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"2015 Alumni Reception\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Department of Materials Science and Engineering hosted an Alumni Reception on April 17, 2015, as part of Johns Hopkins University&#8217;s Alumni Weekend.<\/p>\n<p>As faculty and alumni mingled, a small group of seniors displayed their posters for their senior design project to showcase new research in the department.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Swift, a senior in Materials Science and Engineering and one of the students presenting a poster, said he enjoyed the reception and offered advice for future events.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think the hardest part is growing the event&#8211;we are already a very small department, so making a larger reunion event can be challenging.
