Johns Hopkins University\u2019s engineering graduate programs are again ranked among the nation\u2019s best, according to\u00a0U.S. News & World Report<\/em>\u2018s Best Graduate Schools rankings, released today.<\/p>\n

Materials Science and Engineering jumped up four spots to tie as No. 14 for the nation’s Best Graduate Materials Engineering Programs. Overall programs are evaluated by U.S. News<\/em> on key metrics like the school\u2019s research expenditures, faculty publications, citations and honors, admissions selectivity, and its reputation among peers and the employers who hire its graduates.<\/p>\n

“This new department-best ranking is a direct reflection of our outstanding faculty, staff, and students and the momentum they’ve built,” said Dr. Michael Kessler, the Head of Johns Hopkins Department of Materials Science and Engineering. “This ranking reflects their impact, and I’m excited about where we’re headed.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Whiting School of Engineering<\/a> overall retained its No. 13 spot.<\/p>\n

Specialty rankings are based on reputation as measured by peer evaluations. The biomedical engineering graduate program, which is part of both Johns Hopkins\u2019 schools of Engineering and Medicine, retained its No. 1 spot this year. Four other programs besides Materials Science saw their rankings improve.<\/p>\n

  • Electrical Engineering: No. 15 (tied, up three spots)<\/li>\n

  • Civil Engineering: No. 17 (tied, up six spots)<\/li>\n
  • Chemical Engineering: No. 21 (tied, up one spot)<\/li>\n
  • Computer Science-overall: No. 21 (tied)<\/li>\n
  • Computer Science-AI: No. 22<\/li>\n
