My experience as a Johns Hopkins researcher has been immeasurably rewarding. I have particularly appreciated the streamlined nature of entering a research group and building a mentor-student relationship, the independence and confidence I experienced applying my knowledge of materials science, and the warm, family-like nature of the lab groups. The research at Hopkins, particularly that available to me as an undergraduate in the Materials Science and Engineering Department, exceeded my expectations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Zachary Wach, BS 2011<\/p><\/div>\n

Zachary Wach worked in the lab of Dr. Hai-Quan Mao<\/a> studying the guidance of human stem cell differentiation through topographical, material, chemical, and other physical micro- and nano-environmental cues. He received a PURA scholarship and a Senior Design Award for demonstrating the potential for provoking neuronal differentiation of human embryonic stem cell-derived neural crest stem cells via pulsed electrical field stimuli.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-4934","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nZachary Wach '11 -
