The space was opened on April 26 by <a href=\"https:\/\/ventures.jhu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Two startups leasing space at the innovation hub have Whiting School ties. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gemstonebio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gemstone Biotherapeutics<\/a>, which is developing a hydrogel technology for wound healing, was founded by <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/chembe\/faculty\/sharon-gerecht\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sharon Gerecht<\/a>, a professor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/chembe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering<\/a>. Renalert, a startup developing a <a href=\"https:\/\/ventures.jhu.edu\/acute-kidney-injury-renalert-solution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">device that prevents acute kidney injury<\/a>, was founded by Aaron Chang, MS &#8217;15, who began working on the project as an undergraduate studying biomedical engineering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe innovators and entrepreneurs at Johns Hopkins and across Baltimore are extraordinarily driven and talented,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/ventures.jhu.edu\/executive-biographies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christy Wyskiel<\/a>, senior adviser to Johns Hopkins University President <a href=\"http:\/\/president.jhu.edu\/meet-president-daniels\/bio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ronald J.
