The CAREER award is given in recognition of young scientists\u2019 commitment to research and education. Yu\u2019s award will fund the exploration of new collagen modification techniques and the development of spatially functionalized collagen scaffolds for controlled microvasculature formation and artificial cornea fabrication. His award will also support the development of a biomaterials laboratory session for blind high school students, including those participating in the Blind Youth Slam, to be held on the Homewood campus this August.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Debbi Donhauser<\/strong>, administrator in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, received the 2007 Whiting School Staff Service Award. The award, given in recognition of Donhauser\u2019s outstanding service in support of the educational and research activities of the Whiting School, was presented at the annual Convocation and Harriet Shriver Rogers Lecture in April.<\/p>\n<p>Donhauser began at Johns Hopkins 17 years ago, arrived at the School of Engineering in 2001, and has been the Department of Mechanical Engineering\u2019s administrator since then.
