Venturing beyond the confines of traditional engineering coursework, the Whiting School\u2019s new bachelor of science degree program in Systems Engineering<\/a>, offered through the Department of Civil and Systems Engineering<\/a>, is trans-disciplinary and collaborative, connecting mathematics, engineering, social and physical sciences, and medicine. The major is designed to prepare students for a broad range of careers, including those related to energy infrastructure, smart cities, decision making in health care, data mining, and the cybersecurity of infrastructure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The new minor in Energy focuses on technical aspects of sustainable energy and is offered jointly through the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering, drawing upon a variety of resources and co-curricular opportunities, including those made possible through the Ralph O\u2019Connor Sustainable Energy Institute<\/a>. It is designed to prepare students for careers in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in areas related to the development, delivery, and management of energy for human use.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
