Dean Schlesinger will be joined by Bloomberg Distinguished Professor Yannis Kevrekidis. Dr. Kevrekidis is an expert in modeling and dynamic behavior of complex systems. He pioneered the equation-free approach to complex systems modeling, which incorporates data mining and machine learning techniques. His models have aided scientists in studies about how clusters of neurons synchronize; the swarming patterns of insects; the development of bubbles in fluidized reactors; and the phenomenon of urban sprawl. His techniques and applications have transformed the ways in which scientists and engineers perform computer-assisted modeling of such complex systems.

This event is part of a larger series of annual Dean’s networking events designed to help the Whiting School of Engineering build a stronger alumni network and establish a new sense of tradition in the areas where we have the largest alumni populations. Due to the virtual nature of this event, we are pleased to open it up to members of the Engineering community throughout New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
