{"id":12,"date":"2013-10-07T10:25:15","date_gmt":"2013-10-07T14:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/erlebacher\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2022-09-12T14:43:08","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T18:43:08","slug":"join","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/erlebacher\/join\/","title":{"rendered":"Join Our Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Erlebacher group at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is growing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our portfolio of programs is funded by a variety of sources \u2013DOE\/ARPA-E, industrial partners, the JHU Ralph O&#8217;Connor Sustainability Energy Institute (ROSEI, energyinstitute.jhu.edu), and DARPA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are looking to bring on multiple graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to pursue research in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;Methane decomposition into hydrogen and solid carbon. We are exploring a new and particularly effective route to turn natural gas into hydrogen and solid carbon. This is a chemical and materials engineering project involving reactor design, construction, and modeling. More information can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/apply.interfolio.com\/100713\">here.<\/a><\/li><li>Metallurgical routes to upgrading carbon. Here we are exploring methods to transform low-value carbon generated from methane or CO2 decomposition (e.g., soot) into high value crystalline carbon forms (e.g., fiber or bricks) at industrial scales. More information can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/apply.interfolio.com\/100746\">here.<\/a><\/li><li>Life-cycle and technoeconomic analysis of methane decomposition. This policy and economics project seeks to answer a \u201cwhat if\u201d question \u2013 what would be the economic, policy, and environmental effects of producing inexpensive hydrogen and solid carbon from natural gas. More information can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/apply.interfolio.com\/83481\">here.<\/a><\/li><li>Metal coatings for extreme fatigue and corrosion resistance (DARPA). The program involves synthesis, testing, characterization and modeling of alloy coatings subjected to interfacial liquid metal dealloying.
