Below is the list of awards currently offered by the ECE Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

John Boswell Whitehead Award <\/strong>\u2013 John Boswell Whitehead was named Professor of Electrical Engineering in 1910 and initiated a program in Applied Electricity, which ultimately led to the establishment of the Electrical Engineering Department. Professor Whitehead was also the first Dean of the School of Engineering. This award is presented annually for outstanding achievements in electrical and computer engineering by an undergraduate student.<\/span><\/p>\n

William H. Huggins Awards<\/strong> \u2013 William H. Huggins was chair of the Electrical Engineering Department from 1970 to 1975. Dr. Huggins was a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a fellow of the IEEE, and was the recipient of the IEEE Educational Medal and the IEEE Edison Medal. These awards are presented annually to senior and junior students in Electrical and Computer Engineering for outstanding scholarship and service to the department and to his or her fellow students.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Charles A. Conklin Award<\/strong> \u2013 Charles A. Conklin III earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins in 1927. This award is presented to outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineering seniors to recognize their academic achievements.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Muly Family Undergraduate Research Award<\/strong> \u2013 This award supports undergraduate student research. It is awarded annually to an exceptional undergraduate student conducting research in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. It was established by Emil \u201956 and Faye Muly in honor of their family, who include several generations of Hopkins alumni.<\/span><\/p>\n

IEEE Eta Kappa Nu Excellence Award<\/strong> \u2013 This award recognizes individuals of ECE who have demonstrated exceptional academic accomplishments. This award is presented to a member who has not only excelled academically but has also made significant contributions to the university and the community through exceptional character and leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n

IEEE Leadership Award<\/strong> \u2013 The IEEE Leadership Award is given to a senior who has demonstrated significant leadership qualities and has served as a student leader during their time at Johns Hopkins.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Electrical & Computer Engineering Student Service Award <\/strong>\u2013 This award is given to students who selflessly give their time, energy, and creativity to support and assist other students, faculty, and staff in Electrical & Computer Engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n
