Miriam Marwick, a research staff member at the Institute for Defense Analyses<\/a> (IDA), is among AFCEA\u2019s \u201c40 Under 40<\/a>\u201d award winners for 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization as AFCEA,\u201d said Marwick. \u201cI feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to apply my own STEM education to supporting our armed forces, and to pay it forward by mentoring others in their studies and early career.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to its website<\/a>, AFCEA is an association that connects people, ideas, and solutions from military, government, industry, and academic occupations to technology and strategy. The Young AFCEA \u201c40 Under 40 Award\u201d is given to 40 individuals ages 40 and under for their significant contributions in a technical science, technology, engineering, and mathematics field by providing innovation, thought leadership, and support to their client or organizations using information technology. Award winners are selected based on technical accomplishments in nominees’ careers.<\/p>\n

Marwick graduated from Columbia University with her bachelor\u2019s degree in electrical engineering, and doctoral degree in electrical and computer engineering from Johns Hopkins University. She is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Association of the United States Army.<\/p>\n

IDA is a nonprofit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers in the public interest. IDA answers the most challenging U.S. security and science policy questions with objective analysis leveraging extraordinary scientific, technical, and analytic expertise.<\/p>\n
