Imaging In Vivo Neurotransmitter Modulation of Brain Network Activity in Real Time

Optical amplification on fluorescent dyes that respond to neuronal depolarization and neurotransmitter modulation

This project utilizes optical amplification on fluorescent dyes that respond to neuronal depolarization and neurotransmitter modulation of neuronal networks to study brain network activity. A novel feature of this is that these measurements, for the first time involving neurotransmitter action, will be measured in seconds and milliseconds rather than several minutes that is currently required in current imaging techniques such as PET receptor studies.
