The policies are directed for the Homewood-based full-time graduate program. They contain general graduate student policies and procedures as well as Master’s student policies and procedures.
It is University policy that all full-time students in the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering maintain adequate health insurance coverage to provide protection against unexpected accidents and illnesses. As a full-time student, you must either purchase the University plan or sign a waiver indicating you have health insurance coverage comparable to the University plan (International Students are required to purchase the University plan.)
The Homewood Graduate Board is responsible for the administration of policies and procedures for the award Doctor of Philosophy, PhD of the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering, and for Masters degrees in the School of Arts and Sciences.
The program committee sponsoring a candidate for the PhD degree is responsible for scheduling the exam and submitting the form entitled Oral Examination for Degree of Doctor of Philosophy to the Graduate Board Office. This form must be completed, signed by the chair, and submitted to the Graduate Board three weeks before to the proposed examination date. Only the original, signed form needs to be submitted to the Board. Exams may be conducted at anytime throughout the year. To initiate a scheduling of the GBO please contact our Academic Program Administrator, Debbie Race.
