{"id":5337,"date":"2025-05-20T12:52:24","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T16:52:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/doctor-of-engineering\/faculty\/aleksander-popel\/"},"modified":"2025-05-20T12:52:24","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T16:52:24","slug":"aleksander-popel","status":"publish","type":"people","link":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/doctor-of-engineering\/faculty\/aleksander-popel\/","title":{"rendered":"Aleksander Popel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bme.jhu.edu\/people\/faculty\/aleksander-s-popel\/\">Aleksander Popel<\/a> is a professor of biomedical engineering at the Whiting School of Engineering and a professor of oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the director of the Systems Biology Laboratory, and a member <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">His research focuses on systems biology and medicine and systems pharmacology using both computational and experimental approaches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Popel\u2019s work has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the C. Forbes Dewey Distinguished Lectureship in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2011 and Eugene M.
