Ziang Xiao is an assistant professor in the Johns Hopkins University\u2019s Department of Computer Science and a member of the Data Science and AI Institute. His research is motivated by the fundamental question of understanding humans at scale\u2014e.g., how can we conduct robust and generalizable studies about human behavior?<\/p>\n
The goal of his work is to\u00a0enhance human-AI interaction to expand our knowledge of ourselves. Through this research, Xiao aims to create a more connected research community and democratize novel technologies to operationalize intuitions and curiosities about how we think and behave. His current research focuses on three exciting topics: AI for social science, human-centered model evaluation, and information seeking. Broadly, Xiao\u2019s work lies at the intersection of\u00a0human computer interaction,\u00a0natural language processing, and\u00a0social and personality psychology.<\/p>\n
He completed his PhD in\u00a0computer science\u00a0at\u00a0the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
