He is the technical director of the Johns Hopkins University\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/isi.jhu.edu\/\">Information Security Institute<\/a>, a member of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ai.jhu.edu\/\">Data Science and AI Institute<\/a>, and an affiliate of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/iaa.jhu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute for Assured Autonomy<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white;margin: 22.5pt 0in 22.5pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 16.0pt;font-family: 'Work Sans';color: #5a5c5a\">Cao\u2019s current research projects are \u201cVulnerability Analysis of Web Applications\u201d and \u201cSecurity, Privacy, and Fairness Analysis of Machine Learning Systems.\u201d He was awarded an NSF CAREER Award in 2021, the DARPA Young Faculty Award in 2022, and Amazon Research Awards in 2022 and 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white;margin: 22.5pt 0in 22.5pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 16.0pt;font-family: 'Work Sans';color: #5a5c5a\">Cao joined Johns Hopkins in 2018 from Lehigh University, where he was an assistant professor.
