He also directs the research group on <a href=\"https:\/\/ccvl.jhu.edu\/\">Computational Cognition, Vision, and Learning<\/a> and is affiliated with the\u00a0Center for Brains, Minds and Machines and the\u00a0NSF Expeditions-in-Computing project Visual Cortex on Silicon.<\/p>\n<p>His research interests include computational models of vision, mathematical models of cognition, medical image analysis, and artificial intelligence and neural networks.<\/p>\n<p>Yuille received his BA in mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 1976 and his PhD in theoretical physics, supervised by Stephen Hawking, in 1981.
