Howard Weinert is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His primary research interests are in high-performance algorithms for signal and image processing with large data sets.<\/p>\n

Weinert develops fast compact algorithms for smoothing noisy measurements so that very large data sets can be processed quickly on a personal computer. The algorithms are adaptive so that unknown parameters can be estimated from the data. Both deterministic and stochastic models are used.<\/p>\n

He earned his BA in electrical engineering from Rice University and his MS and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1972.
