This project remains the focus of their work throughout the program, ultimately leading to the development of a final portfolio that can include items such as prototypes, plans, patent applications, computer simulations, and user manuals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal Supervisory Committee<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents collaborate with their advisors throughout the program. Each student has a three-person personal supervisory committee consisting of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Primary advisor from the Whiting School of Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Co-advisor from their company or agency<\/li>\n<li>One additional professor from Johns Hopkins University who serves as an added, occasional resource<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This system allows students to access resources and professional advice from experts representing multiple disciplines and backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Semiannual Deng Conference<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents participate in Johns Hopkins University\u2019s semiannual DEng conferences that are held at the Homewood Campus in Baltimore twice a year (January and June). Students meet with their advisors, take oral exams, and participate in networking, professional development, and social events during these conferences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Online Courses<\/strong><br \/>\nAs needed, students may take online courses that enhance their learning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Project Students choose a real-world project arising from an engineering challenge in their current place of employment.
