At Johns Hopkins Engineering, engineering design is the cornerstone of the undergraduate experience. This process, which involves applying foundational knowledge and design practices to address societal challenges, is seamlessly integrated into our curricula in all departments and academic programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From designing pharmacodynamic models of the human body, creating a predictive index for cyberattacks, and medical devices that improve the quality of life around the globe, to building a chemically powered vehicle or quieter leaf blower, the variety of design-oriented courses and projects pursued by our undergraduates grows every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project-based learning reinforces more than just technical expertise. Successful design requires diverse perspectives, a deep understanding of user needs, empathy, inclusivity and co-creation of solutions with the end users. These elements are vital for effectively applying engineering principles to create meaningful solutions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
