CLE lecturer Jen Bernstein has two recent publications of note, the first pedagogical and the second related to her area of expertise: communication in health care.<\/p>\n

In the September issue of the JHU Center for Educational Resource\u2019s Innovative Instructor<\/a>, Bernstein shares how Slack has transformed communication in her course Culture of the Medical Profession. Not only did Slack increase engagement during the class, Bernstein states, but students continued to engage with each other beyond coursework and even after the semester ended on important topics in the health professions. The Neonatal Network<\/em><\/a> also recently published “Ethics and the Genome in the NICU: Stewardship from the Bedside Nurse<\/a>,” which Bernstein co-authored with Rebecca Poston, PhD, RN, CPNP, and Susan Braid, DrPH, MPH, NNP-BC. The article explores how genome sequencing is utilized in the NICU and presents a guide and resources for NICU nurses regarding “some of the common ethical issues that are manifest in the application of genomics in the NICU.”<\/p>\n
