Prof. Thomas Gernay Named Associate Editor for Fire Technology Journal
Congratulations to Prof. Thomas Gernay on being named Associate Editor of Fire Technology Journal!
According to its website, Fire Technology publishes original contributions, both theoretical and empirical, that contribute to the solution of problems in fire safety science and engineering. It is the leading journal in the field, publishing applied research dealing with the full range of actual and potential fire hazards facing humans and the environment. It covers the entire domain of fire safety science and engineering problems relevant in industrial, operational, cultural, and environmental applications, including modeling, testing, detection, suppression, human behavior, wildfires, structures, and risk analysis.
Prof. Gernay is most interested in improving the resilience of the built environment against natural and man-made hazards. His work focuses on the development of computational modeling techniques and risk-based methodologies for the analysis and design of structures under multiple hazards, with a specialization in structural fire engineering. Additionally, he is a co-author of the nonlinear finite element software SAFIR®.
