The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering\u2019s reputation is built on our leadership in research that has an impact on the world, the quality of our faculty and students, and the success of our alumni–in fields ranging from academia and a broad array of industries to entrepreneurial ventures.\"\" <\/span><\/p>\n

We are an <\/span>inclusive, diverse, and welcoming community<\/span><\/a> and our excellence in research and education and our ability to make an impact on the world is tied intrinsically to the contributions and perspectives of individuals from different backgrounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Research and teaching in the department are integrated, and students at all levels have opportunities to put their knowledge topractice, working side-by-side with faculty mentors in their labs where they address topics ranging from the development of new therapies to conquer cancer and the creation of earth-friendly biofuels and other sources of energy to the design of molecular electronics and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

The era of big data has opened up new worlds of possibilities in our field, and our faculty are leading advances in areas such as using machine learning approaches to accelerate materials discovery and developing a multiscale algorithm to predict the structure of protein complexes from their constituent proteins.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
