Requirements for Admission<\/h3>\n

1. Online Application<\/a> in the Slate application system<\/h5>\n
2. Three Letters of Recommendation<\/h5>\n

Obtain your recommenders\u2019 email addresses and enter them in your online application to
\nrequest electronic letters of recommendation. The Slate application system will contact your
\nrecommender directly via email and will be given instructions about how to proceed. Please use
\nthe Slate system and do not have letters of recommendation mailed to the school.<\/p>\n

3. Statement of Purpose<\/h5>\n

The statement (1-3 pages) should outline your background and interests in civil or systems
\nengineering, reasons why you are seeking to pursue a graduate degree, why you believe JHU is
\na good fit for you, specific career goals, events or places that have inspired you, etc.<\/p>\n

4. GRE scores<\/h5>\n

GRE scores are optional for our graduate programs.<\/p>\n

5. Transcripts<\/h5>\n

Official copies of transcripts are not required for application review purposes. Applicants are
\nasked to upload unofficial transcripts in the Academic History portion of this application. If you
\nreceive an offer and choose to accept it, you must contact your institution to have your official
\nacademic transcripts sent directly to the Office of Engineering Graduate Admissions.<\/p>\n

***For international students***<\/em><\/p>\n

For all foreign academic work we strongly recommend that you submit a professional credential
\nevaluation from World Education Services (WES)<\/a>. Credential evaluations allow the departments
\nto better assess your academic records. These evaluations do not replace the transcript, you
\nare still required to upload these documents as instructed.<\/p>\n

6. TOEFL\/IELTS scores or English Language Proficiency Test Waiver<\/a> (For international students only)<\/h5>\n

Visit Information for International Students<\/a> to read our English Language Proficiency Policy for
\ndetailed information, including preferred minimum test scores. Engineering Graduate Admissions has updated our English Language Proficiency Policy in lieu of COVID-19 and are currently accepting additional options. You may request an English Language Proficiency Test Waiver by contacting the Engineering Graduate Admissions Office by emailing WSEGrad-Admissions@jhu.edu<\/a>. Applications require a self-reported score for review. Many applicants see their official scores arrive after the application submission deadline.<\/p>\n
