If you matriculated prior to 2020, please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/case\/information-for-current-accepted-students\/\">information here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PhD student requirements for the department include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>8 Courses<\/li>\n<li>Two years\/four semesters of graduate seminar courses (<span>Fall semester \u2013 EN.560.691, Spring semester \u2013 EN.560.692)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/case\/phd-policies\/\">Department Qualifying Examination (DQE)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/wse-research\/resources-policies-forms\/responsible-conduct-of-research\/\">Responsible Conduct of Research short course<\/a> (AS.360.625)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Academic Ethics short course (EN.500.603)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Final PhD Dissertation Defense and <a href=\"https:\/\/homewoodgrad.jhu.edu\/graduate-board\/graduate-board-oral-exams\/\">Graduate Board Oral Examination<\/a> (GBO)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All courses must be completed with a grade of B or better.
