Engineering is more than a discipline, it\u2019s a foundation for thinking\u2026A Hopkins Engineering education gives you a deep scientific background that enables you to better understand, approach and solve any problem.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jarred Bressner knows the ins and outs of life at Hopkins, within the Engineering community and beyond. He works as an undergraduate resident advisor (RA), providing advice and guidance to new students in all aspects of their adjustment to college life. Jarred is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers<\/a>, Johns Hopkins Student Chapter.<\/p>\n

Jarred is very excited to have had the opportunity to collaborate with other engineering students and professional engineers on Project Ecuador, a component of the JHU Chapter of Engineers Without Borders.<\/a> Over the past several years, EWB has designed and worked hard to construct a day-care facility in the rural, indigenous village of Santa Rosa de Ayora, including construction of a Gabion wall to protect the building from possible mudslides.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was really cool about the project was the opportunity to work not only with other students and faculty, but also with professional engineers too,\u201d Jarred says. \u201cParticipating in student groups like ASCE and EWB gives you hands-on experience and deeper exposure to what it\u2019s actually like to be an engineer early in your academic career,\u201d Jarred says, though his personal aspiration is to become a surgeon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-4217","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nJarred Bressner '13 -
