Based on the classes she has taken in the discipline so far, Ashley has discovered that she has an affinity to structural engineering\u2014essentially the \u201chow things work\u201d of the art of architecture. Ashley says she enjoys being part of the \u201ctight-knit community\u201d of the Civil Engineering Department at Hopkins. \u201cYou get to know your classmates really well, and the professors are so nice\u2014Their doors are always open,\u201d she continues.\u201cIt\u2019s important to balance fun and work,\u201d Ashley says, and Hopkins is the place to do just that. When she\u2019s not studying structural engineering or taking other classes toward her major, Ashley is pursuing a minor in Art History, leading tours of Homewood campus for prospective students a <a href=\"http:\/\/johnshopkins.collegiatelink.net\/organization\/bluekeysociety\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blue Key<\/a> tour guide, riding horses with <a href=\"http:\/\/jhuequestrian.weebly.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Johns Hopkins Equestrian Club<\/a>, leading backpacking and caving trips for <a href=\"http:\/\/web1.johnshopkins.edu\/%7Eoutdoors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Johns Hopkins Outdoors Club<\/a>, dancing with the student-run <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jhu.edu\/%7Eeclectics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eclectics Dance Group<\/a>, or participating with <a href=\"http:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/thetatau\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Theta Tau<\/a> Professional Engineering Fraternity.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-4209","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Ashley Feldman, BS \u201914 - Department of Civil &amp;
