Congratulations to Ben Schafer<\/a>, professor in the Department of Civil and Systems Engineering and director of the Cold-Formed Steel Research Consortium<\/a>, on his election as a Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Fellow. Schafer is one of the world\u2019s leading experts on structures designed from steel, and his research focuses on increasing the efficiency and safety of steel buildings \u2013 particularly under extreme hazards.<\/p>\n

A division of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the SEI aims to improve professional practice, spark technological advancement, and promote members\u2019 careers.<\/p>\n
