Associate Professor Michael Shields has received early career support from the U.S. Department of Energy<\/a>. This is Prof. Shields\u2019 third young investigator award. His project, titled, “Low-dimensional Manifold Learning for Uncertainty Quantification in Complex Multi-scale Stochastic Systems” leverages large-scale so-called dimension hyper-reduction methods to enable uncertainty quantification for complex multi-scale systems.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Professor Lori Graham-Brady was recently named a Fellow for the United States Association for Computational Mechanics (USACM)<\/a>. She was recognized for her outstanding research contributions in the field of multi-scale modeling of materials with random microstructure; dynamic failure of brittle materials and stochastic computational mechanics and for her leadership roles in academia.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>Associate Professor Lauren Gardner<\/a> and Professor Tak Igusa <\/a>have both been selected to receive support this year from Johns Hopkins University\u2019s Discovery Awards program<\/a>. Gardner’s project is titled, “Integrating Human Mobility and Genomics to Understand Dengue Spatial Dynamics.” Igusa’s project title is, “Johns Hopkins University Living Laboratory for Urban Mobility.”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Professor Somnath Ghosh received 2019 Ted Belytschko Applied Mechanics Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)<\/a> and was named a Fellow of the Society of Engineering Science (SES)<\/a>.<\/p>\n
