Peng Zheng

Research interest:Peng is interested in studying how light interacts with matter on solid-state systems and harnessing it for developing advanced optical tools, such as nanoscale probes, super-resolution techniques, and optical sensing platforms, to tackle difficult questions in physical and biomedical sciences. In his spare time, he can be found playing soccer, running, swimming, hiking, and  canoeing.

Zhenhui Liu

In my research, I use 3D bioprinting for tissue and disease modeling. I’ve also used a combination of technologies for the characterization of single cancer cells about their mechanical, morphological, and molecular properties. In my spare time I like rock climbing.

Jeong-Hee (Jenn) Kim

My research interest lies on studying the biochemical features of cells and tissues with a specific focus on biomedical applications. I utilize optical microscopy and molecular spectroscopy to obtain microscopic and spectral data on biological samples and analyze them using image reconstruction and machine learning methods. Outside of the lab, I enjoy exploring restaurants in Baltimore and fun ice cream places. I like going outdoors and climbing.

Piyush Raj

Piyush is a 3^rd year Ph.D. student in the Barman Lab. He completed his undergraduate in mechanical engineering from IIT Guwahati and after a short stint as a mechanical workshop supervisor at L&T Heavy Engineering, joined IISc Bangalore in their Nanoscience master’s program. After finishing his masters, he joined JHU where he is currently working on non-invasive glucose sensing, SORS, Raman cell and tumor imaging, quantitative phase imaging, and plasmonics.

Pooja Anantha

Pooja’s research interests reside in SERS, Raman spectroscopy and bioprinting. Her hobbies include traveling, painting, and gardening.

Lintong Wu

My research interests center on developing nanodevices based on self-assembled DNA nanostructures and DNA nanostructure-directed self-assembly of metal nanoparticles, for the understanding of plasmonic properties in metallic nanostructures and application in nanophotonics, bioimaging, and drug delivery. My hobbies are doing experiments, reading, sports, and cooking.

My research interests are in the application of wet lab techniques in the development of tissue models for malaria infection experiments and the implications on future infectious disease research. My hobbies include journaling, dancing, and baking banana bread.
