His work focuses on the modeling, measurement, quantification, and statistics of deformations, in both the analysis of shape and in the processing of imaging and video data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He received his Laurea in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Padova (Italy) in 1999; an MS in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2001; and a PhD in Applied Mathematics at Brown University in 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">He has received several teaching awards, including the 2023 Robert B. Pond, Sr. Excellence in Teaching Award and the 2024 Professor Joel Dean Excellence in Teaching
